Peipsi CTC signed a contract for new EE-LV-RU joint project "Greenman" - focusing on green management for urban development

Last week  representatives of Tartu City Government, Estonian University of Life Sciences and Peipsi Center for Transboundary Cooperation signed joint project "Greenman", which addresses cross border dimension of sustainable management of green areas (GA) in most populated cities in Estonian-Latvian-Russian  border area: Tartu, Rezekne, Pskov. GA are green landscapes, incl. natural and artificial ones, inside cities.

Tartu, Rezekne and Pskov areas joint project “ Green Management for Urban Development & Planning in EE-LV-RU Border Capitals” is lead by Russian NGO -  Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov.  Other partners are: Administration of Pskov City, Pskov State Pedagogical University, Tartu City Government, Estonian University of Life Sciences, Latvian office of Euroregion "Country of lakes", Rezekne City Council, Rezekne Local Municipality and Daugavpils University.

Project aims are:
  • Improved efficiency of urban green areas management (GM) in Tartu, Rezekne & Pskov;
  • Increased coverage of green areas (GA) in the cities by creation of GA and preparation of tech docs for future GA;
  • Improved networking & experience sharing between the specialists dealing with urban GM.


To achieve purposes studies, workshops and training  will be organized.
For developing urban green management in the long run inventories will be carried out, databases created, management systems and methodology for green areas inventory developed.
To achieve programme visibility web-site, wall calendar, green management manual, university study course and bulletins will be created.
As the practical part of the project: the Friendship Alley, the Rozarium and  the Natural Trail will be crated in the center of Tartu.

Project is financed by Estonia-Russia-Latvia cross border cooperation Programme.


Project budget is 1.948.194,78 EUR, program co-financing (grant) is 1.753.375,30 EUR.
