The main focus of this workshop is on Empirical design and preparation for case studies and fieldwork. 9 case study border regions will be selected from Barents Sea to Mediterranean to investigate local perceptions of the European Union’s role in promoting regional development. The task is to analyze local interpretations of regional development and co-operation contexts, potential advantages and disadvantages of greater cross-border cooperation, attitudes toward interaction with neighbouring regions, external investment, as well as potential social conflicts.
Peipsi CTC is in charge of Dissemination workpackage of the project, dealing with internal and external communication.
“EUBORDERREGIONS. European Regions, EU External Borders and the Immediate Neighbours. Analysing Regional Development Options through Policies and Practices of Cross-Border Co-operation" is a 4-years long FP7 research project (2011-2015), with the main objective to identify challenges to economic, social and territorial cohesion as well as regional development potentials in different borderlands at the EU’s external frontiers.
