Lake Peipsi and Lake Võrtsjärv share common problems as, to a great
extent, their local communities depend on their lakes. In both areas
here are long fishery traditions and established historical and cultural
heritages, distinctive to their locality. For that reason we have
launched a project, with the goal of facilitating the preservation of
cultural heritage in the Peipsi and Võrtsjärve regions.
At the first project meeting, which took place in September, the common understanding established to recognize the similarities and differences in the regions, including local personal initiative and entrepreneurship. It also became apparent that the regions have much to learn from each other.
