Living Lakes Network

LIVING LAKES is the partnership promoting voluntary international collaboration among organizations that carry out projects benefiting lakes, wildlife, and people.


Lake Peipsi/Lake Võrtsjärv was accepted as an official double member of the international partnership Living Lakes in 2003.

The Living Lakes network is coordinated by the Global Nature Fund, which aims to protect lakes, wetlands, and freshwater reservoirs on a worldwide basis. 


European Living Lakes Association - ELLA, was established in 2022.  It is European-centered association on the protection of lakes and wetlands, actively promotes, advances and advocates nature conservation, landscape management, climate change mitigation and coastal and flood protection at the European level.

LIVING LAKES CONFERENCES:

2022 - 16th Living Lakes International Conference was held in the city of Puno (Perú) , December  6- 8,2022;  hosted by the Binational Autonomous Authority of Lake Titicaca (Peru-Bolivia).

2019 - 15th International Living Lakes Conference to be held in Valencia, Spain, 7 - 9 May 2019.
2014- Living Lakes meeting and Conference “Lakes in densely populated regions - Balance between people and nature”; November 18-24, 2014 in Nanchang, China.
2010 13th Living Lakes Conference at Lake Chapala, in Mexico
