Central Baltic Programme project "FestiSkills Hunters" increases women's employability in the cultural sector

07. May 2025

On May 1, 2025, the cooperation project "FestiSkills Hunters" was launched, linking the Lake Peipsi area and South Karelia regions, with the aim of increasing the employability of women aged 40 and older by providing them with practical training in the field of festival and event organisation.

The project will contribute to reducing regional unemployment and strengthen the local cultural economy. As part of the annual project, interested parties can participate in a practical training programme that includes event observation in both Estonia and Finland and personal mentoring in event organisation.

According to project manager Ederi Ojasoo, organizing events and festivals in the Lake Peipsi area is an important part of introducing local culture and the region: “This is a region that is of interest to both domestic and foreign tourists, and events help increase the number of visitors to the region. Whether it is a pancake breakfast aimed at the community or a lake festival. Event organization is an area that has the potential to revitalize the regional economy.”

The training program focuses on practical skills, including budgeting, marketing, teamwork, crisis management, the use of digital tools, and sustainability principles. Participants will apply the knowledge they have learned to organize their events in the spring and summer of 2026 and will also receive support from the program in preparing funding applications.

Registration for the training program opens in early June. The lead partner of the project is the Peipsi Center for Transboundary Cooperation and the Finnish partner is The Black & White Theatre Association. The project is funded by the Central Baltic Programme 2021–2027. The project duration is May 2025 to August 2026.
